About Samantha

Hello readers! Welcome to my little corner of the digital universe, or as I like to say, "my online diary".

My name is Samantha, but most know me as Sammy. I grew up in eastern Oregon, in a town called Pendleton. Pendleton is known for its famous rodeo, The Pendleton Round-Up, but it'll always be home to me. I spent my childhood years there and left the small town for the big city of Portland to continue my education.
In the spring of 2021, I virtually graduated from Portland State University with my Bachelor of Science in Applied Health and Fitness and a minor in Community Development.
So what's my story? Well, it's woven with threads of passion for health, fitness, and travel. My first few years in Portland I treated the city like a hub, a place to store my stuff while I explored another corner. I spent two summers working as a Wilderness Guide at Laketrails Base Camp in Northern Minnesota. I spent a year living in Seoul, South Korea while I attended Hanyang University to study health and Korean. This is where my blog started, and why I started it. I wanted a way to share what I was doing with my family, with my friends, and with anyone who wanted to know my story; who wanted to know me. I created this space to share my passions, insights, and adventures with fellow wanderers.
Covid-19 put a pause on my adventures and slowed my life down a little. After spending some time back in Pendleton, I quickly returned to Portland, where I reconnected with my now-husband. We quickly reconnected our friendship from years past and had a small elopement during the height of the pandemic.
While I don't travel as much anymore, I still take little adventures. We still live in Portland and have since adopted two cats. Both my husband and I work in fitness, and I have recently found myself back in the aquatic world. I keep this blog as a place to share our story, update my family, and provide readers with insight into Pacific Northwest living. Whether you're a family member, a friend, a curious traveler, or a fellow Oregonian, I'm thrilled to have you here.

With love and gratitude,
Sammy
